Denise Battles, Ph.D., joined leaders from four other higher education institutions in a plenary panel discussion on “University Challenges in the Time of COVID-19.” The five panelists, who discussed the future of academia, building and rewarding talent, connecting with society, and the role of scholarly societies, all hold academic degrees in the earth or space sciences. In addition to ������, universities represented on the panel included: the University of California San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of Illinois, New Mexico Tech, and Pennsylvania State University. The session was moderated by Susan Lozier, AGU’s President-elect and Dean of the College of Sciences at Georgia Tech.
